I had left the tailcone top skin open. I wanted to run one more cable, for the VOR/glideslope “whiskers” antenna to support my likely choice in an IFR avionics suite. I didn’t want to crawl into a buttoned up tailcone to do this. There was no warning in the plans (that I noticed), I just found the information when looking ahead specifically for this purpose (i.e. “what else needs to go into the tailcone?”).
Well the cable and antenna come in the avionics kit, many months away (I haven’t even ordered). Fortunately, I could just buy the cable separately, so I did. Then I installed it.
And now, finally, the tailcone is all riveted. And, the empennage kit is essentially complete (except for the antenna mounting/doubling hardware and fiberglass fairing).
