Vertical Stabilizer

Was able to complete the empennage inventory and pretty much finish the Vertical Stabilizer pretty quickly.

This started with creating a couple of hinges, then framing the skeleton with 5 ribs and a spar. As usual, more prep than construction… match drilling (spar caps) and deburring. I’m going to prime the interiors of the tail feathers and wings at least.

Assembly of the skeleton went really quickly, and just a couple of hours to rivet the skin on the skeleton. Took a bit of finesse to get the leading edge of the ribs clecoed to the front bend of the skin, a slightly tight fit but manageable. I’ve just got to bolt the hinges onto the spar, but I’m calling this one done!

I haven’t been tracking hours closely, but here’s my best reconstruction based on photos I’ve taken.

Sun March 15 – 4h.
Mon March 16 – 2h.
Sat March 21 – 3h.
Sun March 22 – 6h.

For an estimated total of ~15 hours.
