On March 7 and 8, 2026 I attended an EAA SportAir workshop in Fremont, California at the Aviation Institute of Maintenance. The topic was “Van’s RV Aircraft Fiberglass Techniques.” The instructor was Scott VanderVeen and he put on a very good class taking us from zero fiberglass experience to having the skills necessary to do the basic fiberglass work required on an RV aircraft build. Highly recommended. The techniques have always been a mystery to me, know I understand the basics and feel comfortable with taking on that work. I can watch a million YouTube videos on the topic but nothing beats hands-on experience! We made a little fairing piece and did a sample windshield to fuselage transition.
